I love hot drinks. Coffee, Hot Tea, and Hot Chocolate are my faves. What I don’t like is taking that first sip and burning my mouth. I love to travel. I love getting organized and packed, I enjoy being on vacation, and I enjoy coming home and putting everything away. Crazy right?! I really do enjoy every aspect of taking a trip.

Recently my husband and I added an addition onto our home, doubling the square footage. I love having all this extra space. We worked at keeping within our budget and succeeded, however we ran out of money before getting our flooring. Currently we have remnant carpeting down as floor coverings.

While this works, it’s certainly not that attractive. I was looking online at DIY laminate flooring recently trying to see what I could find to replace the carpets. I’m thinking of going with the laminate flooring for now to save on expenses and it’s really pretty and durable.

Laminate Flooring is a synthetic multi-layer flooring product. Most of the time you will find it resembling wood but sometimes you can find it that resembles stone. It’s great for a do-it-yourself-er such as my husband. He can install it himself and save even more money. Most of the laminate flooring, and what we’re looking for, comes in tongue and groove planks which can be clicked into one another, making installation a breeze. The laminate flooring is applied over a “sub-floor”. This provides moisture and sound-reducing qualities.

I was looking online at FlooringAmerica, they have several options for laminate. My house is decorated on a Tuscan theme, so I’m looking for something that will work within that design. I really like the Overture which has a mixture of orange and brown in it. I also really like the Gratitude which is a deeper brown and has the predominate knots in it. I have a tendency to go more toward the oranges as that’s one of my favorite colors. I know my husband will like the one that’s priced the lowest. Of course.

Once we decide on the style we want then we have to choose the gloss level. It comes in low, medium and high levels. I have never cared for a high glossy shine so this won’t be to difficult for me to decide. I know I’ll most likely choose the low gloss finish.

Whatever style and gloss finish we go with, I know we’ll be pleased with the results. I’m very excited to get the flooring purchased and installed. It can’t happen soon enough. Then my home will look more complete.
