In the coupon world we use many acronyms, some of which are pretty easy to get and others that are a bit more confusing. Here is a list I have compiled to help you understand that lingo.

YMMV: your mileage may vary (regional item)

ECB: extra care bucks (earned at CVS)

RR: register reward (earned at Walgreens)

LOND: land of no doubles (sadly this is where I live)

BOGO: buy on get one (free)

DND: do not double

FAR: free after rebate

HBA: health and beauty section in a store

IVC: instant value coupons

MIR: mail in rebate

MQ: manufacturer coupon

SQ: store coupon

SS: Smartsource (coupon insert in Sunday’s paper)

RP: redplum (coupon insert in Sunday’s paper)

PG: Proctor and Gamble (coupon insert found in Sunday’s paper)

WYB: when you buy

I have a lot of coupons! I have my binder full of clipped coupons, I have a file cabinet full of inserts, and I have a plastic box full of coupons. There are so many places to acquire coupons other than the Sunday paper. Here are some of the places I get mine from:

Magazines- All You is a great magazine that is well known for containing a lot of coupons. This magazine is available for purchase in Walmart or by subscription.

In Store- I get coupons from just about every store I visit. In most cases you will find them displayed at the front of the store. You can also ask at customer service if there are any coupons available. As you walk up-and-down the aisles you can usually find coupons in the smart source machines that are attached to the shelves. I’ve also seen them on the shelves in notepads and on hang-tags or peelies attached to products. Aside from customer service if there is a pharmacy or make-up center you can ask them for coupons as well. In some cases they will get coupons that are different than what customer service has.

Print From Home- coupons.com is one area you can go to print a variety of coupons. Also check out redplum.com and smartsource.comto print out coupons. Some stores have coupons available to print directly from their website such as Target and Publix.

Mailings- In a lot of cases I get coupons mailed directly to me. You can call or email the manufacturer of your favorite product and ask them if they have any coupons available. In most cases they will mail you something. I get magazines in the mail for the city I live in that contain coupons. If you’ve signed up for any freebies these usually contain coupons too.

Products- I have gotten coupons directly off of products before. Look inside boxes, on labels and in bags to find coupons.

Clipping Sites- You can also order coupons from a coupon clipping site or ebay. I think this is a great idea when you need several of the same coupon.

Friends and Family- Ask your friends and family if they get coupons they don’t want to save them for you. You could also put an ad on Craigs List asking for extra coupon inserts that people don’t want.
